Gemstone Treasure Hunt in Chichester | 18th of September

We have hidden something in Chichester today.

Somewhere in the city centre, tucked away where a curious eye might just catch it, there is a small black Griffin & Co pouch. Inside it is a large cubic zirconia — bright, faceted, and unmistakable once you have it in your hand. Find it, bring it to us, and you will choose a gemstone of your own.

What you are looking for

A black velvet drawstring pouch with our name on it, and inside, a single large cubic zirconia. It is not a diamond, and it is not the prize — think of it as the key. What it unlocks is a natural gemstone, half a carat, cut and set to your own choosing.

How the hunt works

1. We have hidden the pouch somewhere in Chichester city centre.
2. Between 9:30am and 5pm today, Friday 18 September, we are releasing three clues across our social media.
3. Find the pouch, then bring the cubic zirconia into our South Street store.
4. It must reach us by 5pm today. After that, the hunt closes.

The clues go out on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok through the day. The first one lands this morning.

Clue 1:

To find the diamond, make your choice,
In every direction, hear the voice.
North, East, South, or perhaps West,
But the secret lies where you’d least expect.

Choose your street, where dreams can feast,
Through markets and treats, where sorrow is least.

What you win

A natural gemstone of 0.50ct in excellent clarity, which we will then set into a pendant or a ring — whichever you would rather wear.

You choose the stone:

• Aquamarine
• Emerald
• Garnet
• Sapphire
• Teal Sapphire

You choose the cut, from six:

• Round Brilliant
• Oval
• Emerald
• Radiant
• Marquise
• Pear

And you choose the metal it sits in: 9ct yellow gold, 9ct white gold, or silver.

That is thirty stone-and-cut combinations before you have even picked a metal or decided between a ring and a pendant. Whoever finds the pouch will be sitting down with us to work out exactly what they want — which is, as it happens, how most of the pieces we make here begin.

• The promoter is Griffin & Co Fine Jewellery, 64 South Street, Chichester, PO19 1EE.
• The hunt runs from 9:30am to 5pm on Friday 18 September 2026.
• Clues are released through Griffin & Co social media channels during that window.
• One pouch has been hidden. The prize goes to the first person to bring the cubic zirconia into our South Street store within the entry window.
• The cubic zirconia must be presented in person at the store. It cannot be posted, photographed or described to claim.
• The prize is one 0.50ct natural gemstone in excellent clarity, chosen from the five stones listed, in one of the six cuts listed, set into a pendant or ring in 9ct yellow gold, 9ct white gold or silver.
• The finished piece is made to order. We will agree a timescale with the winner directly.
• There is no cash alternative and the prize is not transferable.
