A bracelet is a piece of jewellery that moves with you. But the perfect fit depends entirely on the style: do you want a delicate chain that drapes over your hand, or a bangle that stays high on the wrist?
In Part 2 of our Jewellery Sizing Guide, we break down the difference between measuring for flexible bracelets and rigid bangles.
Measuring for Chain Bracelets & Cuffs
For flexible bracelets (like tennis bracelets or chain links), you are measuring the wrist itself.
-
Measure: Wrap a flexible tape measure or a strip of paper just below your wrist bone (where you would wear a watch).
-
Add Ease: This is the most important step.
-
Snug Fit: Add 1cm to 1.5cm to your measurement.
-
Comfort Fit: Add 2cm (Standard).
-
Loose Fit: Add 2.5cm.
-
Measuring for Bangles (The "Closed Hand" Method)
Bangles are rigid; they don't open. Therefore, the critical measurement is not your wrist, but the widest part of your hand.
-
Position Your Hand: Bring your thumb across your palm to touch your pinky finger (as if you were putting on a bangle).
-
Measure: Wrap a tape measure around the widest part of your hand, usually across the knuckles.
-
The Result: This circumference is the minimum size your bangle needs to be to slide on.

Styling Tips
-
Watch Pairing: If wearing a bracelet alongside a watch, opt for a slimmer, snugger fit to prevent the jewellery from scratching the watch face.
-
Stacking: When stacking bangles, mix different textures but try to keep the internal diameters similar so they sit neatly together.
