How to Choose the Right Necklace Length

The length of a chain can completely transform the look of a piece. A 16-inch chain might act as a chic choker, while a 24-inch chain creates a dramatic, elongating V-shape.

The Visual Guide: Where Does it Sit?

• 14–16 inches (35–40 cm) - Choker: Sits high at the base of the neck. Looks stunning with open-neck tops or scoop necklines.

• 18 inches (45cm) - Princess: The "Standard" length. Sits elegantly on the collarbone. This is the safest choice for gifts.

• 20–24 inches (50–60 cm) – Matinee: Sits between the collarbone and the bust. Ideal for business attire or casual wear over a T-shirt.

• 30 inches+ (76cm+) – Opera: Sits below the bust. Perfect for high necklines or double-wrapping for a layered look.

How to Measure at Home

1. The Mirror Test: Stand in front of a mirror with a piece of string.

2. Drape & Measure: Drape the string around your neck to your desired length.

3. Check the Drop: If you are buying a pendant, remember that the weight of the stone will pull the chain into a "V" shape, usually making it sit 1-2cm lower than the string implies.
